On May 22, we hostеd an online event to launch the draft “Empowering Learners for the Age of AI – AI Literacy Framework for Primary and Secondary Education.” The event brought together teachers, education leaders, policy makers, and learning designers from around the world to explore the future of AI literacy in education.

The “AI Literacy Framework for Primary and Secondary Education” is a joint initiative of the European Commission (EC) and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), developed with support from Code.org and a group of international experts.

Webinar Highlights:

  • Presentation of the Draft Framework: Participants enjoyed an in-depth look at the draft AILit Framework and accompanying report. The live demonstration highlighted the framework’s key features.
  • Thought Leadership: Keynote speakers from the European Commission and OECD highlighted the significance of AI literacy and shared their vision for the strategic partnership and how it can help in advancing digital competencies for young learners.
  • Panel Discussion: An interactive panel, featuring experts, ministry representatives, and educators, discussed the practical challenges and opportunities of integrating AI literacy into curricula, emphasizing potential real-world applications of the AILit Framework.
  • Opportunities for Engagement: Participants learned about various ways to stay involved, including submitting written feedback, joining focus groups, or participating in upcoming stakeholder consultations.

Next Steps:

The valuable feedback gathered during the event will inform further refinements of the AILit Framework as we work toward its finalization in 2026. In the meantime, we encourage stakeholders to continue engaging through our official feedback channels in the next few months, including joining upcoming focus groups and online consultations.
