As AI becomes more present in young people’s learning, creative work, and daily lives, teachers and educators are looking for practical ways to help learners understand AI, use it thoughtfully, and recognise its opportunities and limitations.
The AILit Framework for primary and secondary education is now available, offering a shared, international approach to AI literacy. A joint initiative of the European Commission and the OECD, developed with support from CodeAI (formerly Code.org), and leading international experts, the Framework defines the competences students need to thrive in a world influenced by AI.
Following the launch of the AILit Framework, the “AI Literacy in Education: Practical Approaches for Teaching and Learning” webinar helped participants explore how the Framework can be used in practice. The webinar focused on practical approaches for using the AILit Framework in education settings, including how its competences, learner expectations, learning scenarios, and ready-to-use classroom exemplars can help make AI literacy more accessible and actionable.
The webinar was intended for teachers and educators, representatives of school networks, professional learning providers, learning designers, and others working directly to support teaching and learning.
The session featured members of the AI Literacy expert group sharing perspectives from their own work and contributions to the Framework. It included a presentation of the AILit Framework, short speaker presentations, a panel discussion, and audience Q&A.
Participants came away with a clearer understanding of how the AILit Framework can support teaching, learning, classroom practice, and professional learning.
A second AILit Framework webinar will take place on 9 July 2026, focusing on system-level perspectives and priorities for AI literacy in education. Participants may register for the second webinar depending on their role, interests, and availability.
